The purpose of the preliminary 考试ination is to 测试 the student's knowledge of undergraduate fundamentals 石油工程. • Administ the 考试, collecting the results and presenting the outcome to the PE faculty

• determine the nature of the make-up 工作 (e.g., retaking the course, directed study, ...),

• provide a pass/fail grade to the department chairman after the completion of the make-up 工作. 如果学生再次不及格，则整个初试成绩等同 to "Fail" as described below.

The decision on passing and admitting the student to Candidacy must be made unanimously by the student's 咨询委员会 and the Department chairman and shall be provided 在第二部分报告后两周内以书面形式发给学生.

The doctoral dissertation recognizes the student's capabilities to perform independent 研究并为本学科提供解决复杂问题的新方法. 口服 defense must be before the Tech faculty 委员会 under the guidance of the student's 咨询委员会.
